ACNA History

Audi Club North America (ACNA), formerly Quattro Club USA, was founded in 1984 by Frank Beddor, Jr., a prominent Minneapolis businessman and an avid automobile enthusiast. Mr. Beddor’s goal was to organize a club for owners of Audi models equipped with quattro, all-wheel drive.

A firm believer in the quattro system, Mr. Beddor organized Audi Club NA to give Audi owners the opportunity to experience the benefits of all-wheel drive under high performance driving conditions, learn safety and car control skills and share their enthusiasm for driving Audis.

The club has grown to approximately 10,000 members, ranging in age from 18-85 years old.  The membership is as diverse as the Audis they drive.  ACNA  members are students, homemakers, doctors, businessmen, retirees, computer experts, lawyers, entrepreneurs, teachers, pilots and musicians who share a common bond—enthusiasm for the best engineered car in the world.

In 1986, Mr. Beddor organized the first Driver School held at Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minnesota. The event attracted 60 drivers.

Since then, the number of participants at the Driver Safety Schools has increased each year. Approximately 35,000 people have participated in one or more of the 30 events hosted across the country since the club’s inception. In 1997 the national event was named, “The Frank Beddor Nationals” to honor Audi Club NA founder, Frank Beddor, Jr.

Audi Club NA is the largest association of Audi owners in the world. Regional chapter activities include driving schools, rallies, picnics, time distance rallies, technical sessions, motorsports events, dinners and social activities.

Professional race drivers Bobby Unser, Derek Bell, Michael Galati, John Buffum and Paris-Dakar Champion, Freddie Kottulinsky have been guests at Audi Club NA Driving Schools. World rally champion, Walter Röhrl, has frequently made guest appearances and given thrilling night rides on ice to club members at Audi AG winter driving schools in Seefeld, Austria.
